1972 datsun 240z pace car for sale. Motorcar classics is pleased to present this 1972 datsun 240z pace car. In 1972 datsun specially prepared two 1972 240z cars to be used as the official pace car(s) for the third annual "california 500" held on sept. 3, 1972. It was standard practice to build two " official pace cars " for an event. One would be used for promotional purposes. It would be driven around town, used for photo sessions and then presented to the winner of the race. A second car would be prepared to actually "pace" the race. This second car usually would have it's suspension and power-train modified for higher performance, to assure that it could perform the on-track functions of a pace car. (that is to keep ahead of the pack of cars it was pacing ). Having thus been modified, it could no longer be smog certified for use on the highways. Thus the need of having one for "show" and one for "go". Fifty 240z official pace cars were built and delivered to southern california datsun dealers official pace cars during the ceremonies officially opening the " california 500 " at ontario motor speedway. The foregoing information is credited to the enthusiasts and historians at the web site zhome. Com, who have researched the history of these pace cars and who say that only one of the 50 duplicate o. This 1972 official oms pace car duplicate is at present the only known survivor. One of fifty originally produced by nissan motors to commemorate the datsun 240z being selected by the ontario motor speedway to pace the 1972 "u. California 500 championship". This car was originally purchased from gillian datsun in inglewood, ca. It was driven until the early 80's with its original o. The original owner tired of the graphics and painted it with a jaguar burgundy then drove it until the mid 80's when it was stored away. The car was pulled out of storage and sold to a friend of the owner in 2007, who began its restoration. Photos show layers of paint being peeled away revealing the original o. Blue and white colors from 1972. The car is nearly complete with the exception of a few bits of trim, and we would characterize it as being in #3 condition. It is rust-free and mechanically sound. Seller's comments and description: 1967 datsun roadster 1600. It runs, shifts, drives, has newer tires on original wheels. The interior is in nice condition. Car is straight with its share of dings, scratches and chips and no rust that i could locate. The cassette radio works but i don't have a cassette to test if the tape deck portion does. The car has nice fog lights and is complete, not missing anything. The car has not been driven much in a number of years; so while it starts up with its one year old battery; it needs a good tune up, carb adjustment and full tank of premium gas run through it to get her running well. Comes with original datsun ignition key and key for antenna.

This truck is in great condition, with some minimal rust at the bottoms of the doors, as shown in the photo. The truck is about 90% complete, all its missing is the rear bumper, the radio, the horn button and the passenger side mirror. All the trim is there, and it has the original 60 hp motor and 4 speed manual transmission. These trucks are extremely rare and awesome to own! The truck runs, drives and stops, but is obviously a project car. I just cleaned the carb and the jets so the motor runs really strong, the brakes work but are soft, and the clutch lines need to be bled and refilled. Overall and awesome truck. One could easily make a rat rod out of something like this and it wouldn't break the bank. I have a clean title.

This is a very rare truck, albeit not as rare as the 320nl (i own one and it is for sale as well). This is the only 320 for sale on ebay right now! This is a great project car, as it is mostly complete! It still has the original 1. 2 l inline 4 that produced 60 ps. The exterior is complete, with the grill, headlight bezels, datsun tailgate and even the 60 ps badges on the side. The interior is also in great condition, and is mostly complete, all that is missing is the original radio. The body is in good shape, but there is some rotted through rust on either side of the truck behind the front wheels, but it is nothing beyond repair. The truck runs and drives, and with a slight tune up could be ready to be driven on the street, or just rip the motor out and throw in a 350 v8! I have a clean title from montana. Since i bought the truck a year ago it has sat in storage inside of a container out of the elements.
